We’re excited to share a preview of an upcoming feature landing in XOFU later this month: Citation Audits. This new capability is the first major release within a broader initiative we call Citation Optimization, a set of tools designed to help you move beyond tracking citations and toward improving how your brand shows up in LLM responses.

Citation Audits will be available to all users on Monday, January 26.

Citation Audits: Focused Analysis on Your Existing Projects

A Citation Audit allows you to take any project you’ve already run in XOFU and analyze it through a more focused lens.

Each audit is organized into three core sections, each designed to surface different types of opportunities.

Cited Domains Profiling

This section analyzes the most frequently cited domains in your project and generates a concise profile for each one. You’ll see:

• The primary brand or purpose behind each domain
• Their key audiences
• How each domain is categorized, such as a competitor, a social platform where you could create content, or a viable outreach target for placement

Brand Citation Map

The Brand Citation Map provides a visual overview of the websites contributing to your brand’s presence in LLM responses.

We crawl cited pages to determine:

• Where your brand is actively reinforced
• Which external sites influence your brand narrative
• Shared and missing surfaces when compared against competitors

Prompt Inspection

Prompt Inspection brings the analysis down to the individual prompt level.

For each prompt, you can see how frequently your brand appears across its response pool, including:

• Explicit brand mentions
• Citations of your primary brand domain
• Citations of other pages identified in your Brand Citation Map

What Comes Next

Citation Audits are the first step in a larger roadmap. As Citation Optimization continues to evolve, you can expect:

• Solution recommendations based directly on audit findings
• Tools to build and manage citation-focused content strategies
• Before-and-after tracking to measure the impact of changes over time
• Continued improvements to analysis depth, performance, and usability
